Skills Journey
The Skills Journey is a 1:1 programme that gives students the study skills needed for success in tests and GCSEs.
Why the Skills Journey
The Skills Journey helps students to develop Executive Function skills and become organised, self-sufficient learners.
Improved academic performance
Teaching students how to learn builds a strong foundation for success in public exams.
Enhanced independence and responsibility
Understanding how to plan, prioritise and manage tasks helps students to become independent, self-sufficient learners.
Reduced stress and anxiety
Helping students to manage their workload and responsibilities reduces the stress and anxiety that comes with busy school schedules.
The framework
The Skills Journey is built on a framework of eleven Executive Function skills developed in collaboration with Esther Demery, a trained EF and ADHD coach.
Timeline
How it works
Step 1
Find the perfect mentor
After getting to know your child, we’ll suggest a mentor pairing based on relevant experiences, backgrounds and matching interests. Our mentors span a huge range of backgrounds from working at the Civil Service and Netflix, to the world of journalism and the West End.
Step 2
Start the handbook
Using a framework developed in collaboration with Esther Demery, students work through our extensive Skills Handbook. The 130-page booklet includes sessions guides, fun exercises and reflection areas to embed learning that focus on developing each of the Executive Function skills.
Step 3
Monitor progress and next steps
You will receive progress reports following each of the 12 sessions from your mentor and regular check-ins from our team. This ensures you have oversight over the process and that we’re working towards the results you’re looking for.
